Passage: Matthew 10:34-42

Matthew primarily wrote to a Jewish audience to show them that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah, the King of Israel. In Matthew 5-7, Jesus taught with authority regarding life as a citizen of His kingdom. In Matthew 8-9, Jesus demonstrated His authority and proved He alone deserves our allegiance. Beginning in Matthew 9:35, we see the great compassion of King Jesus for the lost.
